| The Intermezzo Choir, grades 5–9, made its Portland Symphonic Girlchoir debut under the direction of Debra R. Burgess in the 2000 Jingle Bear Holiday Family Concert, one of the two annual “solo” concerts in which these singers are featured each year. In addition, Intermezzo sings in all PSG season concerts and makes several solo appearances in the community yearly, as well as touring nationally every three years and continuing an ongoing collaboration with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. Past tours include the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio in Texas and the Crescent City Choral Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. In June 2006, Intermezzo was pleased to have been invited to participate in The Eleventh Annual North American Children’s Chorale where they performed in Carnegie Hall, on tour in New York City. In the spring of 2005, the Intermezzo Choir was thrilled to present the world premiere of its first commission, "Tsvey Taybelekh". Composer, Lee Kesselman in attendance, had this to say “...the Intermezzo girls sang beautifully and every aspect of the performance hit the mark…” |
