Waiting in the rain.
Waiting in the rain to see the Jorvik exhibit. It was a blustry Wedensday - almost more like November than August.

It not only rained, but it poured. Thank heaven for those umbrellas we packed.

St. Helen's Square
St. Helen's Square is very beautiful. There are lots of petunia baskets and places to sit. The red house that borders one side is really beautiful. Betty's Tea Room is on this square, and many of us just had to have tea at Betty's.

P1010031
This is Stonegate (Stone Street). It is one of the major shopping streets. Cute little boutiques line both sides of the raod as they compete for our pounds. The man in purple is a street performer who looks like he's being "Blown Away."

Shopping on the Stonegate
More of the crowd on Stonegate. Many of us ate dinner (a proper fish and chips with mushy peas) at the Punch Bowl, just down the street a bit.

Guess who's shoes these are!?? A bargain at 5£, but watch out for the cobblestones! We were fortunate to hit the sales in both Paris and York.
