The Audition and Preparation
A Girlchoir audition takes about 10 minutes and is comprised of singing "America the Beautiful" a cappella in the key
of B flat, imitating tonal sequences, and sight reading melodies of simple to medium difficulty a cappella.
Younger singers will be evaluated for potential.
We will be listening for the ability to match pitch, sing with a clear and natural tone quality, sight-read several
easy to medium difficulty melodies, accurately reproduce melodic patterns, maintain your part while singing a canon, and demonstrate
an adequate range.
Admission into the Premier Choir as a singer new to Girlchoir requires a fine ear and strong music reading skills.
To prepare, practice singing the first verse of "America the Beautiful" a cappella in the key of B flat,
starting on F. No other preparation is needed. Previous piano or other instrumental lessons are helpful.
